Illini commits five more prospects this week for the 2017 class, including a linebacker from New Mexico State and a safety from Utah State.
The Illini (7-3, 4-3 Pac-12) have already committed five more players to their 2017 class.
Five of the top 10 2017 prospects listed are listed below.
The list includes defensive end Johnathan Lewis (SUNY Geneseo), linebacker Marcus Lewis (Rutgers), defensive tackle Zach Thomas (Texas Tech), cornerback David Quam, wide receiver Jaelen Strong, and safety D’Antoni Lewis.
All five commit from New York.
Lewis has the most commitment from New Jersey, but he is the only one listed in the top ten.
Quam, who is a member of the 2018 class, is listed in a top five position for the second straight year.
He committed to the Illini earlier this month.
Thomas is ranked in the Top 20 in every recruiting category for the fifth consecutive year, and is the first player to commit to the school since the 2012 class.
He has committed to all four Illini schools.
Strong is a six-star prospect, the sixth-best player in New Jersey’s 2018 class.
Quinten Dye, a 6-foot-3 defensive end from New Hampshire, is also ranked in that class.
Other commits from New England:Quincy Jones, a 5-star defensive end/defensive back from Boston College, is the highest ranked commit from Massachusetts in the 2017 recruiting class.
